**NEW DAY**
Kat was again curled up in a large armchair, reading a book far older than she was. In this case, Homer's Odyssey. It was getting chillier, and so the library had started making use of its huge fireplaces. Of course, it was nothing on Manderley, but the armchair was quite comfortable and Kat had taken it upon herself to occasionally stoke the embers into something resembling a blaze. The fire was pretty pathetic-looking, really, but it was still warm. The kind of fire her father would have fussed over until it looked right, especially at Wilcombe where they kept a limited staff.
She'd been there all afternoon, and would likely stay until closing.

Henry was riding a natural high. Ever since the rousing success of the party, his fortunes seemed to have improved. True, he was still cut off from the England he knew, but part of that England had come here to Paris along with him--not such a bad turn of events. Even more, old ties he'd thought long gone had been re-established, and all in all he was content.
Having the free time, he was at the library again, perusing the stacks. Not looking for something in particular, simply looking to see what caught the eye. As it happened, it wasn't a book that did, but a woman--and not just any woman, but one he knew.
"Milady de Winter."

It took her a second to notice he was there, but when she did she let out a small "oh!" and stood to curtsey. "Your highness." And then she sat right back down again, gesturing to a seat beside her and dog-earing the page. The Manderley libraries were full of books dog-eared and waiting for Kat to come back to them. Drove the maid in charge of organizing them crazy.
"I see you've recovered from your party."

He walked over, gait easy, and sat down beside her.
"Oh, indeed yes. While organizing such a thing can be quite trying, I don't for a moment regret it."

It was more than a little amusing. Oh wah, he had to organize a party. And he couldn't have done it himself. Parties of that size were organized by the housekeeper, at least at Manderley.
"Was it very difficult to pick out the color of the napkins and the number of musicians?" She asked, a little teasing smile on her face.

"More that it was difficult keeping track of who is who. There is a strange amount of juggling that apparently goes into it when it comes to the people you invite. To be honest, I don't think I want that kind of crowd again, at least not for a little while."

"I suppose with a full court now you won't have time to go walking in Paris?"

"Unfortunately," he said. "So I fear that I shall not be able to meet acquaintances as often as I would like."

"I'm sure the court has plenty of diversions for Your Majesty. I can't imagine having a whole army of servants and courtiers as a burden."

"No," he said honestly. "But none of them are certain other people I know."

"And can't people visit you at court?"
She'd put her book to the side so she wouldn't seem as if she wanted to get back to it.

"They'd be always welcome to." He said with a wink.

The librarian coughed obviously in their direction. Kat glanced over and then back at Henry.
"No promises," she said, smiling, then picked up her book and returned to it.
((I figure now she can come to court or something))

((Yup she can. And he'd get mad if she got turned away, ha.))
He rolled his eyes at the librarian, and then said, very quietly.
"We need to stop meeting here, or else we'll never finish our conversations."

((She'll be one of his sister's Ladies-in-Waiting through some connection or other. Stay with some distant cousins.))
"That would imply that one or both of us comes here intending to meet the other." She said, not looking up from her book. The feelings with which she said it were unreadable--derisive or playful or disinterested, it couldn't be discerned. After a few moments, she checked a pocketwatch and frowned.
"Oh, bother, I'm going to be late."
Her studio a recital in a week, and she was going to be late for rehearsal with her partner in the pas de deux. She stopped only to put her book back before heading out the door.
