It could have been an invitation. Kat had not actually expected him to follow right now, and had been trying to express a more perhaps-I'll-see-you-here-tomorrow kind of invitation; as such, she was about half a block down the avenue when he got outside.

"My lady!" He called after her, and though he didn't run he walked faster.
"I see you're in a hurry so I'll be brief--I would like to continue our conversation somewhere less restrictive in regards to volume. Is there somewhere we could meet?"

She turned around, genuinely surprised to see he had followed her.
"Oh! You! You actually--I wasn't in a--did you just call me 'my lady'?"

"Yes...shouldn't I?"

"I, um... yes?"
I feel like I should curtsey. Should I curtsey?
"I just... haven't been called that in a while?" The maids called her 'Miss' or 'Miss Kathleen', and of course her family always called her 'Kat', and those she met generally called her 'Miss' or 'Mademoiselle' until closer acquaintance.
"But I'm not busy."
Smooth. Not obvious at all.

He smiled.
"I can keep calling you that, or not, it's up to you."
He'd slowed, now, since he was pretty much caught up with her.
"Ah, good. Though it would have been perfectly all right if you'd been busy."

She had rehearsal in an hour, but that was... in an hour.
"I don't mind," in fact she sort of liked it, "but if we're going to continue our conversation I should hope we'll discuss something other than forms of address and my schedule." She said with a bit of a smile.

"Of course. Could be any subject. But not the weather."

"But I do so enjoy discussing precipitation. We could always start with the basics: where you're from, the like."

He chuckled.
"But talking of the weather usually means the conversation's run down already.
Ah, better--I'm from England, London, actually, and I'm currently here in Paris on an extended holiday."

"England! I grew up splitting my time between Yorkshire and Cornwall, and spending the social season in Paris. I've never seen much of London."

He still missed London--or his London, to be exact, as the London of this place was not the one he left behind.
"How did you like your travels? I hope England was hospitable."

"They weren't so much travels as... residencies? Eight months at Wilcombe, four at Manderley, every year until I was fifteen. I like Paris very much, but it's nothing like home."

He nodded knowingly.
"You're right about that. But this city has a charm that can't be denied."

"I'm not sure I'd use the word 'charming' to describe Paris. More... seductive? 'Charming' is a cottage among rolling hills."
