"Um, my father is still in India." *He blurted.* "We're here until he comes to meet us."
*Oh dear. It was getting easier to lie. He had floated up again, but a few more inches than before. He slammed himself down but that made a noise and dropping four or so inches wasn't... normal.*
What the... this isn't good!
*Normally he had complete control over the things he could do that others couldn't, but now he was wondering why the hell he kept floating. It was like wet dreams and puberty for todchildren. Only in public and more physically impossible.*

*Valerie circled out from behind the desk, bending to look at his feet.*
"How in heaven's name are you doing that?" *she asked with evident curiosity. If he spooged on her, he was dead meat.*

"I... don't... God damn it stop!" *He struggled to remain flaccid on the ground, using the library desk as leverage.*
"I'm Death's son." *He said simply, momentarily defeating the floating. It's not like there was another explanation for it.*

*She rolled her eyes and went back behind the counter to rummage for a new stamp slip to paste in the back of one of the older books.*
"That's one I've never heard before. You get points for originality, I'll give you that."

*He frowned, disappearing to stand right in front of her, behind the desk.*
"No, really. My father is Der Tod."
*He then teleported back to the spot he was standing before. And then he was floating again. It was only an inch and nobody else was around anyway.*

*Valerie looked at the jar of paste to make certain she'd screwed the lid on tightly.*
"I'm just going to go crack a window, alright? I'll be right back."

"The India story is what my mother told me to tell my teachers." *He said.*

*She hopped down off the stool she'd stood on to open a high window and came back to the desk.*
"I smelled the lie on you the second you said it."

"Well I couldn't say I'd moved to Paris... I was behind in almost every subject."

"From the looks of things, you still are," *she said, glancing at the tower of books.* "Do you really expect all of these to help you? I've read each of them--I should know."

"You sound like my sister. She's read everything." *He conveniently ignored the question.*

"And why haven't you? Shouldn't you be immortal or something?"

"My father is, but I just grow really fast. And float and stuff."

"So how old are you? Chronologically, I mean. Not physically."

"Chronologically probably about two years." *He said, a bit bashful.*
