*Keita slowly went down the steps and kneeled at the small rack of candles in a whispering hush of skirts. She lit a candle for her parents and bowed her head to pray.*

*Josephine, who prayed regularly on Sundays, entered, and expected to see an empty room. Instead, however, she saw a pretty girl with black hair, to her horror.*
Well, no need running off, maybe she won't talk to you, if your silent that is.
*She also lit a candle for her family, and kneeled beside the girl.*

*Keita turned her head to look at the newcomer, and she smiled in the other girl's direction, then returned to her prayers.* Why break the peaceful silence of this place?

*Josephine smiled nervously in return, and stared at the girl for awhile*
Oh...Mama always told me to speak to whoever smiles at me...But we're in a Chapel...I don't know if Mama would want me to do that...though.

*Keita finished praying and quickly crossed herself.* "In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti...Amen." *She glanced at the other girl again, her eyes sparkling. She considered a moment before speaking, sensing by the way the girl's eyes seemed to be darting haphazardly between floor and ceiling that prayer and calm holy thoughts were far from her mind anyway.* "Hello..." she said gently, her thick Scottish accent giving her word the warmth and comfort of a fresh piece of buttery shortbread.*

*Josephine almost jumped, but regained her senses quickly*
Turning to the other girl, she smiled, shyly. "Hi, my name is, um, er, uh...Josephine Edward. What is yours?"
Oh, I just sounded like a fool...

*Keita smiled sheepishly.* "Och, forgive me, Miss Edward. My name is Keita McQuillen."

*Josephine smiled at her, and felt much better.*
"That's a lovely name. Oh, and I hope you can forgive me, I'm to shy for my own good."

*Keita dropped her eyes to her clasped hands and blushed.* "Thank you. I'm rather shy myself. I was gathering my courage for about five minutes straight before I could speak aloud."

*Josephine giggled and smiled wider.*
"Same here, Keita, I started panicking in my mind...I'm just not as brave as you I suppose." She laughed again, with a gesture of her hand.

*Keita blushed even deeper at the praise.* "I'm not...very brave. Relatively, perhaps. The other day I ventured into the cellars below the opera and nearly died of fright!"

*Josephine was shocked, and gasped*
"You went into the cellars? Oh, my goodness!" She exclaimed. "Did you see anything?"

*Keita laughed, the sound ringing around the small chapel, pealing like golden bells--making one feel that the small subterranean room was a towering cathedral.* "Only another girl exploring the same as I. We ran bump into each other and had a good shriek and bit of foolish fear at our pride's expense."

*Josephine chuckled.*
"I'm glad to have met you! I fear I have no friends here, or do I know any-one, but you." she said, and suddenly she felt sorrowful again.

*Aria slowly walked into the chapel and made her way over to the candles. There, she carefully lit two and began to kneel. She stopped and reluctantly lit a third. Then she knelt and began to murmer a quiet prayer.*
