"I know, right? Like, who seriously builds things like this?"
He held out his hand to her.
"Let's go."

She smiled down at it, still unsure of the young mans intentions, but not really caring anymore.
This was going to be an adventure.
And if she died as a result of it.
Fuck it.
She took his hand "Lead the way."

He could sense her hesitation, but at least with him, there wasn't anything to worry about. Holding her hand, Alex led the way along a passage that eventually wound itself around behind the normal walls of the opera house. At regular intervals, there were more doors leading into the building itself.
"I have no idea where half of these go."

"That's okay" she half spoke, half slurred "I'm down for whatever passage you take me down."

He sighed. She really needed to sober up, but being inexperienced when it came to alcohol he really didn't know how to make that happen.
"Pick one. Any one."

She lifted her index finger to her lips and swirled her head.
Then pointed to a passage that looked well lit.
"That one."

"This way it is."
Eventually, the passageway ended at another secret door, which Alex easily opened and led the way through. On the other side was a bunch of pulleys, winches, gears...
"The must be what moves the sets around."

"Wow" she looked around, amazed at what she saw "that's awesome."

"There's so much stuff in here that almost nobody sees that it's mind-boggling."
He pointed upward at a stored set.
"Look at that. I wonder when's the last time that saw light."

She shrugged "Never, it's inside of a building" she wasn't dumb, just drunk.

He elbowed her lightly.
"I mean stage lights. It's all covered in dust. Bet it hasn't been used in ages."

"Oh" she laughed "duh, yea, there hasn't been much going on here has there?"

"Yeah. Kinda sad, but I guess that's just what happens sometimes."
He stopped next to a ladder.
"Wanna climb up there and see that set up close?"

"If I fall on my ass, my life's on your hands" she laughed and grabbed on to the ladder.

"I'll catch you. Then you won't have to hurt anything." He said.
Of course what he didn't say that it was entirely possible for him to do such a thing as catch a person that fell from a second-story. He figured she already knew, or close to that, so why mention it?
