* Edward stared at the building in front of him as the carriage he had been riding in clattered away. The sign on the front said something in French about an opera. Well, he already knew it was an opera house. That was why he had come there in the first place. He hated opera, which was exactly why the bloody policemen would never look for him at an opera house.
If you hadn't murdered that Carew bloke you wouldn't need to run from the police... a voice in his head muttered. Edward smacked himself in the forehead and the voice went silent. Several pedestrians turned to stare at him, but he ignored them and headed toward the opera house.
Pulling open the front doors, he stepped inside and looked around. The foyer was dominated by a huge marble staircase and lavishly decorated. *
"This place is too cheerful," Edward mumbled as he moved toward the shadows.
* He settled his back against a wall and began watching the people passing by. *

*Green flames came up from the floor, and in the middle of the flames, a tall, dark woman appeared. Her skin had a light green color, her black, curly hair had a devilish looking hairdo. Her eyelashes were long and dark, and her eyes shimmered between yellow and green. Her black lips parted in a somewhat devilish grin. A black raven was sitting on her shoulder.*
"Welcome to Paris, Mr. Hyde" she said in a mocking voice. "My name is Malefica."

*Edward gaped at the green and black woman before him. He was still trying to get over the fact that an oddly coloured woman had just popped out of the floor in front of him, and so did not notice for several minutes that she knew his name. However, once the realisation finally dawned on him, he immediately became suspicious.*
"What are you? And how do you know my name?" he demanded.
* The fact that the creature almost seemed to be mocking him irked Edward and he glared at her.*
