Competetive, too? Perfect! Oh, shit, better figure out how to put up some sort of block.
"Well, there are ways to become a demon. You could always sell your soul—really, nothing happens until death, and I could put in a goo—um, bad word for you," he offered with a wink.

Ah, so that's what he's after, her soul. Helga couldn't fathom why anyone would want her soul...there wasn't much left of her after what she endured in New Mexico.
"Oh, really? That seems like a rather high price though. Besides, if there are demons, there must be angels as well, right?"

He nodded. "Of course there are—I've been acquainted with one since The Beginning. We're... pretty close, I guess you could say. And Hell's not really all that bad—trust me, humans are far more creative than Lucifer could ever be."

"Right..."
Helga still wasn't convinced. This was hell he was talking about!
"I still don't see anything in it for me."

Helga's eyes widened.
"What?" Was he serious! Damn, this guy was good. But there has to be a catch. There's always a catch...
Helga composed herself. "And why would you help me? I can only assume that you are expecting something of benefit for yourself. Is this really only about my soul?"

"Just your soul," he answered casually, as if he was asking her for a quarter. "Really, it isn't much of a loss. It won't effect you while you're alive, and most humans don't make it Up There anyway."

"The effect it has on me while I'm still alive is not what I'm apprehensive about, for I know for sure by know that you're no lawyer."

He sighed. "Bugger it. I figured I'd lost you once I told you what I was, but, hey, it was worth a shot, right? I just don't want to get into more trouble than I'm already in Down There."

"Trouble? What trouble are you in?"

"Well, I'm probably not supposed to talk about this, but I sort of ruined the Apocalypse. I left the Antichrist unattended, and he turned out like a normal boy and didn't want to end the world. Plus there's the fact that my closest friend is an angel."

"Really? Oh, would this be the one you claimed to be aquainted with?" Helga asked, though she had a strong feeling it was more than an 'aquaintance.' His strong feeling, to be exact.

He blushed a little and nodded. "Known him since the Garden of Eden. We reached an Arrangement in the 11th century, actually. Helps us both get our work done and it makes our bosses happy."

Helga noticed his blush.
"Well, it seems that he's quite a close friend. May I ask his name?"

"Aziraphale," he answered.
