*Erik's brow furrowed in thought.*
"Well, ballet girls are notoriously susceptible to such things. And Erik has had remarkable luck, of late, in going to the homes of old friends, or rescuing them from their abusive husbands. I suppose one cannot count on that sort of thing being a regular occurrence. And one of them is your father, for that matter, which seems inappropriate for a first meeting, and Erik has a suspicion that he would rather we leave his daughter alone. Then there is Poe; but Erik doesn't know where to find her."
*He sighed.*
"There are, of course, houses of ill-repute where one can purchase such experiences."

*Julian mulled over the options for a long while.*
"Well...you have suggested not mingling with those that are employed by the Opera, and i have no friends as of yet. I do have vague recollection of the one called Poe, but I do not see how that is directly helpful."
*He ached his brow inquisitively.*
"These houses...there are such in Paris?"

"Oh, yes. Millions," *Erik said hyperbolically.* "Do you think you'd learn something by visiting one?"

*Julian shrugged.*
"Do you think I will? I am content to learn through whatever methods you suggest."
*He looked back to the city that filled him with so many thoughts, so many desires.*
"I will do whatever you wish."

*Well. That was certainly a nice change from his recent experience with people--none of whom did whatever he wished anymore. It was most vexing. Perhaps it was being attractive, finally. No one was afraid of him anymore.*
"It will impart the important lesson of what money, and looks, can buy," *he said.* "By which you can infer the corollary--that being either poor or ugly is acceptable to a point, as long as you aren't the other, but it's much better by far to be neither."
*He turned to the door that led from the roof.*
"Come. Erik will teach you what he can."

*Julian nodded once in acknowledgment. It made a strange sort of sense.*
"Thank you, Erik. I look forward to the lesson."
*He fell into step behind him, trying very hard to become the man's shadow.*
