*Julian twisted his head, looking back to Erik.*
"And you will have time to teach me? Will I not..."
*He lowered his eyes a little disappointed.*
"...be in your way? I know that you have many other interests than myself. I do not mean to monopolize your time."

*Erik's lips curled into a sensual smile.*
"Erik will tell you when you are not wanted; for the rest, if you can be Erik's shadow when necessary, I don't see why you shouldn't experience a great many things at his side."
*His eyes slid back to Julian's.*
"Would you like that?"

*Julian's eyes widened at the endless possibilities. He pursed his lips to give himself time to not appear too eager. His reply was very soft.*
"I would like that very much. I will be as silent as Death stalking abroad. And will endeavor to stay out from under foot."

((Don't worry, dude. I can't believe I did this to myself; it'll be in my head all day.)) ((If it's any consolation, it's stuck in MY head now. ))

((OTP. Forever. Even if I go to hell for it.))
"Excellent. You learn quickly, Julian; more quickly, by far, than any human get could do. But I wonder what you will make of yourself. It should be most interesting."
*It was intoxicating, for there to be, at long last, a creature who owed its very being to him. Who's life he, almost literally, held in his hand. Whose shape was his to create.*

((The special hell. The one you'll share with people who talk at the theater. I'll bring the snacks. I am glad that you like Julian well enough.))
*Julian felt a strange warmth in his face. He quickly averted his eyes.*
"I only want you to find satisfaction in me, Erik. I will do all that I can to be the greatest of all pupils, diligent in all things. You have but to give the words and I am eager to see your will done."

((Apparently I like creepy and subservient with a dash of incest? Oh wait, welcome to my life!
Also, I do talk at the theater; MY DIALOGUE IS BETTER.))
"Erik has no cause for complaint, thus far. But I wonder how you will be tested?"
*He suddenly had the wild, manic idea of introducing Julian to Christine, of finding out what her reaction would be. But he'd best wait on that; those plans needed to ripen.
He chuckled.*
"No matter; your education shan't be formal. Now... what else should you know? Perhaps it would help Erik to know what you know already. You are rather sharper than Pina, I think."

((Why do you have to live so far away? I lament it so. *hugs*))
*Julian looked up with a hint of that sinister smile.*
Oh yes, that is certain.
"I know of things...obviously speech and basic coordination seem to be instinctive, but there is much that I would want to confirm and refine. I know pieces of who you were and are, but the images are muddled and disjointed. Perhaps they will refine with practice of certain skills....like those of your lasso."

((You're the one who lives in Texas. Who's wrong now? Fool!))
*Erik raised an eyebrow.*
"Yes. That would certainly test your reflexes."
*A hand slipped beneath his cloak and returned with the thin coil, which he pressed into Julian's hand.*
"Now. Show Erik what you know; I will stand off, like this, and we shall see if you have retained his skill. The aim is to slip it over my head and around my neck, in one movement."
*He stepped several paces off and turned to Julian, waiting.*

(( I lose.)) *Julian took the lasso cautiously. It felt strange in his hand, but also familiar. Like something half-remembered, he shut his eyes to hone the thought. He caressed the coil lovingly and released it, snapping it forward without opening his eyes. The strike was strong in form, but overshot and clipped Erik's shoulder. Julian tugged back instinctively and frowned as he opened his eyes slowly, nothing caught.* "Forgive me. I will try again."

*Secretly, Erik was delighted. Few understood the technique required of the wrist; it was uncanny this this creature could fling the lasso half so accurate. Though it was somewhat uncanny that he could walk and talk and all that, as well.*
"No matter," *he said gravely, drawing on the mantle of the Teacher.* "Your technique is good; your aim needs work. But it will come with experience. Try again."
*It reminded him of his days teaching Christine from behind the mirror. Nothing asked of him but his knowledge; nothing given but her obedience. Yes, it had been better that way. Before... all the rest.*

*Julian was secretly delighted that he would not be spurned for his error. He reset his posture and shut his eyes, remembering...feeling what it was to do this. To take the life of another. His cold eyes flashed open and he let the lasso fly, this time hitting the mark with near-perfect accuracy. Apparently it helped to actually look at what one was attacking. His wrist snapped back gracefully and he felt a certain pleasure at the force counter to his own. It was intoxicating.*

*The boy's skill was astonishing. Even Erik had had to learn to use the lasso; could education really be passed in such a manner? Learned traits, imprinted from birth? It made little sense--and yet, here it was.
In a blur, Erik's hand snaked up and through the lasso, tossing it off before Julian could tighten the noose. He clapped slowly.*
"Erik thinks you know more than he suspected; it will be a challenge to find things to teach you. It makes one wonder what you might have inherited from your... from Nadir."

*Julian straightened and bowed his head respectfully.*
"I am honored for you to say so."
*He glanced to the floor.*
"I fear that I may not excel in activities that are...less instinctive. I worry I will not think as you are able."

*Erik tilted his head at Julian, like a falcon watching its prey. Or another predator.*
"Erik has few expectations of you, my son. Indeed, he has not known of you long enough to form any, and now that you are here, he must take you as you are. If you displease me, you shall know of it. Erik is not known for any temperance of character. By all indications, you learn quickly. It cannot be any more difficult than putting up with a diva's tantrums."
