*Xavier flounced strode into the Paris Opera House, perfectly happy to be here and just experienceing Paris.*
*He stood there in the foyer, just soaking it in.*
I'm really here!

Hallie walked into the foyer and spotted the young man. He looked amazed at the beauty of the opera. He must be new, she thought. "Oh! Hello! I haven't seen you around here before."

*He waved and grinned dazzlingly.*
"Hey girlfriend! I'm Xavier Beecham!" *He said bouncily, extending a hand.* "I'm new here... is it that obvious?" *He asked conspiratorially.*

She grinned and nodded. The boy totally set off her gaydar—he was so cute! "Don't worry, though. It's not a bad thing at all." She held out her hand to shake. "I'm Hallie."

"And I thought I would last at least a day before being discovered as a British student!" *He laughed.* "It's just so fabulous gorgeous here. I couldn't help but gawk!"

Hallie wanted to hug him. Or go shopping with him. Or see a musical. "Well, I never would have guessed you're a student. What are you doing over here, though? Are the schools in England that bad?" she joked.

*He rolled his eyes.*
"No, the schools in England are just fine, but my parents think Paris might 'make him more manly,' in my father's words." *He said, imitating his father's rough growl, which starkly contrasted with his warbly tenor voice.* "I'm at the Universite, but I couldn't resist coming over here for a peek! I've wanted to come here since I was little and we went to the Opera in London."

Hallie giggled. "Yeah. The Opera's beautiful, and there's a lot of talent here."

*His eyes widened.*
"Really? Uh-oh. I was hoping for an audition." *He said conspiratorially.* "What my parents don't know won't hurt them!"

Aww! Poor thing has one of those 'no-sissies-allowed' families!
"You sing? Could I hear something?" she asked.

*He blushed.*
"In the middle of the foyer?" *He asked, giggling almost as if it were a guilty pleasure.* "Nobody ever hears me in public."

She laughed. "You people and your shame! How about you come to my place and sing? It's only a couple of blocks away," she said.

*He smiled.*
"I'd love to!" *He exclaimed.* "As long as you don't mind my baggage and your roomate doesn't mind my singing... I mean, if you have a roomate."

"Well, I have a daughter, but she won't mind. She was raised on people singing," she said. "Come on, it's this way," she said, beginning to walk out the door.
