"Well...yes." said Dorothy matter-of-factly. "He's my best friend."

*She looked at the dog impassively.*
"Cute."

"Isn't he just?" said Dorothy, delighted. She beckoned Toto over, smiling pretty sappilly. The small dog ran over quickly in hopes that it was time to leave. His hopes were shattered when Dorothy merely patted his head. "Good boy."

*The witch cringed. How disgustingly cheerful could a person get?*
"I think it's getting bored. It would be unfortunate for it to piss on the floor."

Dorothy gasped and put a hand to her mouth. "You said a bad bad word!" Auntie Em had slapped her the last time she used the word. Dumb Zeke teaching me a bad word. She really paid no heed to the Witch's suggestion after the word "piss" was uttered.

*The witch considered shutting the girl up magically, but decided against it, as the last thing she needed was a mob of angry Parisians stomping all over her garden.*
"I'm a grown woman; I can do what I want."

"But even Auntie Em doesn't say that word! She's rated G! The only person I know who said it is a farm hand and he said he didn't mean to say it!" Dorothy replied, still a bit shocked that such a word had been spoken.

((*snort* I love the thirty's. The word "damn" used by a character who was supposed to be a cad anyway sent everybody into an uproar. ;D))

*The witch massaged her forehead.*
"My mistake, I won't say it around you again."

"Thank you." said Dorothy simply, pleased that her late-30s "family values" had been restored. "Do you really think he's getting bored?" she asked the Witch.

"I see..." said Dorothy thoughtfully. "Alright, Toto. We'll go for a walk." Toto's ears perked up and he seemed to heave a sigh of relief. "Do you want to come with us?" she asked the Witch.

"I think not," *she said with disbelief. Did this girl honestly think that everyone was her best friend?*

"Suit yourself, then." said Dorothy as she turned to leave with a grateful Toto. "Nice to meet you!" she called as she disappeared out the door with her dog eagerly following her.
