"No-she never told it to me." replied Dorothy carefully. She'd been talking to the Witch long enough to know that she was pretty protective of her kind.

*The witch laughed cruelly.* "I'd guessed as much. No one's ever bothered to ask mine, either. You can go on not knowing."

Dorothy frowned as the Witch laughed. Maybe I just don't understand witches anymore....If I did in the first place. "But...surely 'Witch' isn't the proper way to address someone?"

"It seemed to work for everyone else I've known," *she said, annoyed. In the far off kingdom where she'd once lived, everyone had known her as simply, 'The Witch,' or 'The Wicked Witch' if they were feeling especially generous.*
Me, bitter? Why do you ask?

"Alright then, Witch." said Dorothy testing the name out. Toto yelped to get out because she forgot she was holding him. Startled, she let Toto down who wagged his tail gratefully.

*She smiled tightly. Even if the girl was annoying, she was still being decent, which was a change.*

((Yay! Dorothy's getting to the Witch!))
"What should we do now?" asked Dorothy conversationally. Since she wasn't picking up on most of the Witch's signs that she was annoyed, she thought they weren't getting along too badly and that the Witch didn't mind her much.

*The witch raised an eyebrow.*
"We? Just because I haven't turned you into stone doesn't mean I'm your friend."

"Well, I take it that it doesn't mean you hate me either." she countered.

"I just haven't spent enough time with you yet," *she replied, with false cheeriness.*

"Really?" asked Dorothy cheerfully. This was NOT-if there ever WAS-her day for detecting sarcasm and false emotions.

*The witch gave her a slow, deadpan look. Was she really that stupid?*
"Don't worry. I'm sure I'll grow to hate you eventually."

"...But I don't want that to happen." Dorothy said, her eyes downcast. Toto, now bored out of his poor little doggy brain, was mindlessly pacing the Foyer.

*She rolled her eyes and glanced at Toto.*
"Is there something wrong with your dog?"

"I don't think so. He's probably just being impatient." The last sentence Dorothy said with fondness. Too bad impatience can be worse on dogs since they have absolutely no time perception.
