The grandeur of the building was a bit overwhelming for Dorothy, even though she had spent some time in a green city, been trapped in the Wicked Witch's castle, and followed a yellow brick road while being practically pushed by hundreds of "little people" as Auntie Em had told Dorothy to call them after she heard about the Munchkins.
She was simply mesmerized by the grand staircase and gold statues. Toto gave her a puzzled look, but stayed with her anyway.
((If anyone wants Toto I'll let you have him. ^^ ))

*The witch looked up at the building that everyone spoke about so much, impressed for once. It was very grand, with the statues and impressive staircase. It seemed deserted, except for a girl with a dog.*

Dorothy, though still enthralled with the scenery, heard someone nearby. Slightly startled, she turned around to see a woman not too far off. She walked towards the woman. "Hello." she said pleasantly.

*She raised an eyebrow at the girl.*
"What do you want?"

Unphased by the woman's somewhat haughty attitude, Dorothy continued to keep up her cheery attitude. "What is this place?"

"It's an opera house, apparently," *she said, rather uninterested.*

Dorothy had heard about operas. Auntie Em ((for some reason or another)) had a set of records of the opera "Carmen" and played them on occasion. "Oooh..." she said, temporarily satisfied with that answer. 'Temporarily' did not last long, though. "But what city is this? You see...my house crashed here after a twister picked it up and carried it away." Dorothy then added under her breath "...Again."

*The witch raised an eyebrow.*
"You're in Paris. It's in France," *she elaborated, unsure of the girl's intelligence. She didn't look all that smart.*
"You're sure it wasn't a giant? They can be nasty."

"I've never been to France before." marveled Dorothy quietly. "A giant? No. We don't have giants in Kansas." she added and Toto barked in affirmation.

"Fascinating," *she said condescendingly.*
"Do you have anything in Kansas? Aside from dogs?"

"Well, we have chickens and pigs and some goats and a cow. Then, there's this mean old witchy lady-Miss Gulch-who lives nearby. She tried to get Toto killed!" rambled Dorothy. She then picked up her dog and held him close. Toto made an attempt to escape, but gave up quickly.

"Some of them are quite horrible and ugly." replied Dorothy with disgust. "But...some of them are beautiful and kind. I've met one of each." she added quickly, her mood immediately lifted by the memory of Glinda.
