*Maria walked into the foyer of the building were she needed to be, she hoped. Coming to a strange new country and not being able to speak the language really wasn't all the fun. In her left hand she was holding her French for Dummies and her right hand a heavy bag filled with weapons, crucifixes and holy water.*
"Ehm hallo, Ik mean bonjour. Voulez vous directe moi naar le monsters?"
*A couple of people gave her strange looks and stepped away from here.*
Whatever, stupid Frenchies. Why couldn't I have stayed in Holland, there were enough gnomes to kill but no I have to go to this stupid place because these stupid people think that the saw Dracula. Oh father why did you have to die?

Darren was just passing through, then he noticed the new girl and bounced on over.
"Oh my god, are you from Holland?" he said to her in Dutch.

*Maria smiled at the man who addressed to her in Dutch and answered him.* "Yes, I just got here in Paris, I'm from Amsterdam." *Maria dropped her bag and extended her hand.* "My name is Maria Van Helsing, nice to meet you."

I tried to look friendly when the new girl came in. However, I knew very little Dutch, so I let Darren do the talking.

*Maria turned to a woman that had joined them and smiled at her, it was obvious that she didn't speak any Dutch, so Maria tried English.* "Hi, do you speak English, since I don't really speak any French?" *Maria heard a loud pop behind her and swiftly turned around, knocking over her bag in the process. It was only a carriage out on the street and Maria sighed and turned back, however, the content of her bag now lay on the floor, a crossbow, some stakes, a small handgun, several bottles of holy water and a big crucifix.*

"Yes, I speak English."
I helped the woman gather up her things. Quite a strange assortment...
"What line of work are you in?"

*Maria decided that she might as well tell the truth, the way things were going she had to options or the woman would believe her and point her in the right direction or she would think she was loonie and would leave her.* "I am among other things a scientist, I study the occult and I am in the family business of seeking out said occult and destroying the bad guys. In short, I am a monster hunter."

I studied the woman. She seemed to be serious. Well, I wasn't one to deny the presence of monsters in a place like this.
"Really. What sort of monsters?"

"That Raoul de Chagny, for one," Darren commented - then decided not to address that issue anymore, because he doubted that Maria was interested in gossip.
"Really, though - monsters?"

"Well you know those weird and sometimes funny stories about people turning into wolves or dead people coming back to haunt the living. Those kind of monsters." *Maria smiled nervously and coughed.* "So this, Raoul fellow, what makes him a monster, does he have hairy palms? A unibrow, does he have enlarged fangs like a dog's? Did he recently die but came back to live? Or is he demoniacally possessed?"

"Possessed", I said. "Or at least he claims to be. And then-"
I stopped for a moment.
"And then there's Dracula."

"He's possessed, I can handle that." *At the mentioning of Dracula's name Maria eyes widened and her hart skipped a few beats.* "You mean, that He is actually not dead and He's here." *Maria started to hyperventilate and got more nervous by the minute.* "Oh asjemenou, I thought Quincey had killed him, father was sure he was dead."

I stared at her, in shock.
"You know Dracula?"

"You can say that. My father helped a certain mister and madame Harker in the killing of the demon, but now you say he is not dead. Oh my father feared this day would come." *Maria remembered her place and the reason why she was here and pretended to be fearless.* "Now, first I will take a look at the possessed fellow and then I will meet Dracula and hopefully kill him for good."
Or die in the process, since the scariest thing I ever fought was a 3 foot tall zombie carrot and I barely killed that one.

"I heard all about that," Darren interjected. "Vampire, huh? Sexy in the sack, but not when someone's really running around trying to kill people..."
