*Vianne walked soberly into the foyer, leaning only lightly on Percy's arm, her spine straight and strong as she settled into her usual competency that those in the Opera expected from her. She paused and looked at Percy." "What happens now?" *she asked bluntly.* "There is no-one to inform--his family is gone and Meg already believes him long dead. I suppose now I may do as I wish..." *she trembled a little at the idea of such freedom.*

"You are free now, to do such things," he said gently.

*Vianne smiled a little, and rose up on her toes--for though she was tall, for a woman, she had nothing on the broad-shouldered, golden-haired giant who stood before her--and placed a warm, tentative kiss on Percy's lips.* "Thank you, again and again," *she whispered.*

Percy bent and kissed her sweetly.
"There is nothing to thank," he whispered.

*Vianne stepped back and cleared her throat lightly, a pink glow suffusing her cheeks. She half-turned to glare at a passing triad of chorus girls who swallowed their tongues mid-titter at the stern ballet mistress. Mme. Giry said nothing until the girls were gone, and she turned back to Percy and smile crookedly.* "I should--I have work to do...in the...the chorus is rehearsing for the--" *she could not seem to get her dratted tongue to work. She cleared her throat again.* "Forgive me, I seem unable to form a rational thought. I must--" *she gestured vaguely to the auditorium and began to walk towards it, turning to smile the same half-dazed smile at Percy.* "Adieu..." *she dipped her head shortly and turned and hurried to the auditorium to conduct her rehearsal.*
