"You know I could never love you any less."

"If you insist..."
Another Loki appeared at the end of the bed, a slight yet round-faced boy of perhaps fourteen or fifteen, or whatever the Asgardian equivalent was, wearing mostly green and brown and leaning over a book that covered most of his lap. His hair was, at this point in time, actually longer than the present Loki's, and gathered back into a loose braid that didn't quite prevent it from billowing around his face. He had already developed a little frown line between his eyebrows, but was marginally rosier than he was as an adult and- perhaps surprisingly- mostly clear-skinned except for a few small teenage blemishes.
"That's fairly representative," the present Loki said dryly.

"And when you were older? Like, not long before I met you-"
She was clutching onto his arm a little excitedly.

The young Loki vanished and another one appeared across the room, now somewhere in his late teenage years, slouched moodily in a chair and engrossed in another book. The brown in his clothes had become mostly black and his hair was cropped close to his head.
"Hmm," said the present Loki. "This was still some time ago, I'm afraid. Heavens look at me, though. I can't imagine why I was so disliked..."

Teja was standing up now, creeping towards him.
She had always thought of Loki as absurdly young-looking, but when she looked back to him she saw his cheekbones had grown rather sharp, and of course his entire manner was like someone had cut a tight string. She looked back at him as a teenager.
"How old were you?"

Loki looked indecisively at his past self.
"This could have been two hundred years ago. It's all a bit of a blur."

"What were you like... right before it happened?" she asked softly, still looking at Teen Loki, who was scowling unconsciously as he read.

"I really don't want to kill the mood-"

"Please?"

The young Loki on the bed vanished and was replaced by one so close to the present Loki and yet so different now that side by side they looked more like twin brothers than the same person at different points. The past Loki looked a little swallowed up in his clothes despite their fitting properly; his hair was longer than it had been on the one on the bed, but it was slicked back firmly. His eyes were a little too bright. One hand was gloved and clutching another empty glove, and he was staring at his exposed hand.

Teja moved silently to the end of the bed and sat beside him closely, looking at his face.
It was like being with that Loki from the other timeline again, only this one was more delicate-looking and rather less unhinged. He was also dressed far more sedately. But he was indistinguishable from her own Loki.
"Your hair was like this when we met," she said softly, looking at his profile.

"Oh, I remember," he said, watching his past self get up agitatedly and hurry toward the bathroom, dropping his glove as he went.

Teja tried to pick it up.

It phased through her fingers and vanished.
"Let's not get into the rest, please," said the present Loki.

She looked back at him tenderly.
"The rest? Aren't I the rest?"
