She'd sort of assumed Adrian was barely involved in that process. She told him, just as shyly, about the responses his line got from his varied consumer base - a much more varied one than most, to be honest - and asked him about what he'd once worn.

He put his hand against the back of her head- his inorganic hand, so this time had nothing to do with her haircut- and leaned back to hold her, looking into the middle distance.

She held onto Adrian tightly, listening to the thud of his heartbeat. It was unsettling to think he was as much a collection of automated body parts as her - even if he didn't seem to think that. That awareness, the disconnect between their higher selves and the clumsy, rather gross machinery of their bodies, made her shudder and pull back from him without thinking.
