Well, it was her house too, wasn't it?
She had every bit as much of a right to have friends over as Severus, she told herself. And she was really very fond of Alice, even if she'd never encountered Alice's particular brand of vampirism before. Alice was bringing her family too, or at least the ones that were in Paris at the time. From what Magda understood, she had a husband and a brother.
Magda straightened her bodice to prevent any wardrobe malfunctions that might have been on the brink of occurring as she walked to answer the door. She stopped and gave Leadora a fond little pat on the head before pulling the door open to let Alice and her family in.
"Ello!"

Alice at his side, Jasper gave the bosomy vampire who opened the door a polite, if slightly strained, smile. At least, he assumed this was the new friend Alice had been so excited about- red hair, big smile, very, ah, well-endowed...but her eyes weren't the proper colors at all.
"Nice to meet you, miss," he said, ducking his head. "My name is Jasper Hale. I'm Alice's husband."

*Alice was in front, smiling cheerfully as she hugged Magda.*
"Hi! And thank you for inviting us! Jazz, this is Magda and Leadora; Magda, this is Jasper. But he already told you that." *She was bouncing on her toes.*
*Lea poked her head out from behind Magda.*

Edward stood rather sullenly behind the pair, in his nicest blue turtleneck. He recognized the vampire from Alice's thoughts. Though her mental image had failed to convey the full... effect... of Magda's bosom. Jasper was right.
He thought perhaps the woman would worry less, if her dress was cut with a little more circumspection. Dear lord, was the entire evening to be about her bosom?
"Hi," he said finally, when it was his turn.

"Hyou must be Edvard," Magda said, grinning. Her sharp white incisors were still quite obvious.

*Alice smiled and waved at Lea, who just blinked back in a vaguely terrified manner, before turning back to Jasper to make sure he was doing alright.*

"And you're Magda," he said politely, as if he belonged to another world. Oh, like this one. Her teeth, he thought, were really disturbing. Far more so than sparkly skin that shone like diamonds in the sunlight. "And this is Lea."
He didn't think Hobbits even existed. But whatever.

Jasper was watching Edward introduce himself, brow furrowed slightly. Edward was being too sullen- at least he could try to be polite. But he smiled back at Alice when she turned ot check on him, raising both eyebrows slightly before his eyes flickered back to Edward. Then he concentrated on thinking of Edward's bad manners very, very hard.

Edward, be nice. *Alice said in her head, knowing full well he'd hear it, and smiled a little at Jasper.*

"Come inside," she said warmly, picking Lea up on her way by. "I'm making hot cocoa, if anyvun wants some."
Her hip accidentally bumped her and Severus' wedding photo as she passed it.
"Oops. Clumsy me."
She adjusted it before continuing to the kitchen. It was a digital photo, so she showed up in it, holding her husband's hand in her green makeshift wedding dress while he leaned on his cane.

Edward was being nice. This was just how he was! And he knew Jasper was working on him, and knew it was working, damn it, but he didn't have to like it.
He didn't have to look at the photo to see it in Magda's mind. How did she do it? he wondered. How did she keep from hurting him? But not all vampires were alike--he was learning this daily.
"No, thank you," he said cordially, wondering what vampires were supposed to do with hot cocoa.

"You're sure?" she asked. "I haff mini marshmallows..."
She picked up the bag and did something that seemed dangerously close to the kind of pose actresses playing housewives would strike on commercials for dish detergent in the 1950s

*Alice smiled and moved over to Lea.*
"Are you Lea?" *The hobbit nodded. Alice smiled.* "Well I'm Alice, and it's very nice to meet you. I hear you're a hobbit?" *She extended a small, pale hand, which still dwarfed the tiny girl's. Lea shook it and grinned, dimpling.*
"You know about hobbits?"
*Well, when one had centuries, one did have to try to keep up with one's reading. It didn't take very long for Lea to be sitting in Alice's lap, talking at her animatedly as Magda made the cocoa.*

Edward stared at the bag of marshmallows, then at Magda. He was being polite! Which meant he would not mention her absurd resemblance to a housewife.
"No, thanks," he said. "That's very kind of you," he added after a moment.

Jasper took a seat beside Alice, looking, for him, relatively relaxed. Although he'd been wary at first- Magda had a human husband, didn't she? The picture of the dark man she'd bumped confirmed it- Jasper hadn't seen the man anywhere. The company was all vampires. Except the hobbit, but it wasn't like he'd was going to be tempted to eat that.
He grinned at Edward, who had apparently felt the sudden urge to be more polite. Really, Jasper had no idea where that had come from.
