"I don't know. He's been like that as long as I can remember- longer, according to my mother. We don't really talk about what he was like before me."
*She shrugged.*
"I do feel sorry for him, though, but that doesn't mean that I have to compromise how I want to be to make him feel better, you know? I'm sorry- I don't mean to rant at you like this-"

Gwynplaine's eyes smiled softly.
"It's fine," he said. "I don't mind. And you're right; you seem fairly happy and confident. He oughtn't take that away from you, because he is not. But I feel sorry for him, just the same. You aren't--forgive my impertinence--you aren't alone here, are you?"

"Oh, no- I'm here with a friend. It was his idea to come in the first place."

"I'm glad," Gwynplaine said, relieved. "There are dangerous sorts, a place like this. It's nice you have a young man."

**NEW DAY**
Yaoya had heard talk of this place, and once she'd gotten her boss to give her a free day (not too hard, thanks to the fireworks incident), she had slowly made her way over, following the directions that Parisians gave her.
Once she reached it, she wandered, wide-eyed, eyes roving to take in everything. There were acrobats in Japan, she had seen those, but there was nothing like this! Like that great wheel over that had people on it...
She wandered in the direction of the Ferris Wheel.
((Yeah, she's from Feudal Japan, heh))

They'd moved Aideen's booth over near the Ferris Wheel to make room for a concert. She didn't mind, in fact she loved watching the kids getting on the wheel, it made her smile.
Setting up backstage she felt an odd sensation, like she'd felt when that young woman, oh what was her name Azula. But it wasn't the same feeling, it was someone different. She shook it off and a drum roll started, and people began gathering around the stage.
"Have you ever seen a woman breathe fire?" The announcer asked "Balance on a ball of flames without one hair on her body singed? No, well let me introduce you to a woman who can do all of that aaaand more! Aideeeen O'Deellll!!"
With that the drummer did a roll and Aideen popped out from under the small stage holding two balls of flames on the tips of her fingers. There were oooh's and awww's and she grinned "Hello and goood evening to you all I am Aideen Mistress of Fire" She flicked the balls of fire in to her hands and began to roll them "what I am about to show you, is dangerous and should not be attempted at home, work or at anytime without the supervision of a trained professional... or a firefighter."
There was some laughter and she started the show by breathing in to her hands and pushing the fire out above the audience.

When the announcer had started speaking, she'd stopped to listen, wondering at how many she had found (and all girls!) that seemed to have an affinity for fire. She watched the show, rapt, feeling an odd swirling in the pit of her stomach. She could practically feel the fire, not as a burning sensation, but as an extension of herself.
She kept her cool, remembering the cautionary words that Azula-sempai had spoken to her. It was hard, though, and her gleaming eyes belied her intense concentration.

As Aideen finished the show with a large cannon of fire in the air she noticed the girl, and from the moment she caught her eyes she knew.
Another fire wielder?
Bowing she waited for the crowd to start dissipating before she jumped off the stage and started for the girl, with the sweetest of faces on.

Yaoya was actually a bit dazed, and it took her a moment to come back to herself as Aideen approached. She quickly bowed the fiery-haired woman.
"You were wonderful, Miss Aideen."

"Thank you" her smile widened as she attempted to read in to the girls thoughts, although she failed at it "What's you're name dear?"

"You're welcome! And, ah, I'm Yaoya Oshichi."
Suddenly, she felt very conscious of the fact that her clothes were a bit dusty from the road.

Aideen didn't even realize she'd singed the glitter on the top of her costume "Are you hungry?" She smiled "I was thinking about grabbing a pretzel, if you'd like to join me, if it isn't too weird."

Yaoya didn't know what a pretzel was, aside from sounding like food, but she didn't say so for fear of sounding like a country bumpkin.
"Oh, not weird at all! I would love to."

Aideen smiled and went back to the stage for a moment to grab a long jacket with a furry trim on the outside. Just like most of the things she wore it was red.
"Come on, they make the best ones over here" she started heading toward the stand and with a smile.

With a sweet smile in return, she followed Aideen, curious about the woman who had a command of fire. Yaoya was rather surprised to have found two such people so soon.
"I like this place. There was nothing like this at home."
