*The girl looked concerned, trying to read his face.*
"Why? What...what is it?"

*The girl frowned, staring at her plate. She managed a shrug.*
"Just...always have. But...people don't understand. Living or dead. They're all just...they don't understand." *She whispered sadly.*

He nodded trying to control his feelings, it was obvious to him that this girl was upset "I am sorry, I, I needed to know how you knew what my wife looked like. I can see thoughts and memories and such, through touch you see..."

*The girl frowned, pressing her hands into her lap.*
"It's not like that. For me. I see them...all the time. But not like memories. Like people. Unhappy people mostly."

He shook his head in agreement "That is what I saw, that and it seems you have no name" he furrowed his brow and then looked down at the food "I am sorry, please don't let me bother you, eat, eat."

*She blinked slowly, shrugging it off as she picked at her food. He was nice. And quiet. They were quiet around him. There, but...slower. Softer. It was hard to explain.*
"Sometimes...they call me...the Lost One. Lost..."
*She shrugged again.*
"If that would work."

"Lost" he smiled softly and sat down "that works very well" he poured her a glass of orange juice "it's fresh off my tree."

*She seemed to lighten, even if it was just a little. Taking the glass to her lips, she smiled genuinely.*
"It's excellent. Not too sweet even."

He smiled "That's what I was going for, my daughter isn't a fan of the sweetness either."

*A nervous laugh escaped her lips and she seemed rather surprised. She quickly lowered her eyes shyly.*
"Thank you."
*The girl pursed her lips briefly, not looking up.*
"For...treating me like a person."

He smiled and leaned down across the counter "We are all people here, good, bad, ugly, beautiful, powerful and weak, we are people and should be treated as such, no matter what."

*Sounded awfully easy, put like that.*
"You know that that isn't how most people see things. But..."
*The hint of a knowing smile hung in the corner of her mouth.*
"I'm guessing you see things differently all the time."

John laughed softly "That would be correct and unlike most people I really do believe everything that I say."

*A strange realization washed over her.*
"I...I think I like you, Mister. Isn't that strange?"
