Amras stopped in front of a sad looking two story building with a flower painted on the front door.
"I imagine working at a church, you've been to a shelter before? Well I promised a friend that when I came back in town I'd help out around here and he said he'd repay me with a hot meal."
He turned to Wild with a soft smile "You don't mind do you?"

*Wild looked at the sad looking two story building. At least it had a flower painted on the front door. She remembered the scary orphanage where she had stayed since she was 11. This building was a luxurious compared to the orphanage. She smiled.*
"I am used to shelters. I don't mind, if your friend doesn't."

He smiled "John would never mind" he pushed through the front door "John?" Only to be immediately tackled by a young girl in a pink flowered dress "AMRRAAASSS!"
Amras laughed and picked the girl up as a tall blond haired man came through the door with a wide smile. He was a well built man with a soft face and eyes that seemed to look right through you in to your heart. "Amras old boy" the man greeted him "it's been a while eh?"
"Quite John, quite, little Marie here isn't so little anymore are you?"
"O'Im eight cheers old!" Marie poked herself in the chest causing Amras to laugh "That you are little one" he set her down and took the man whom he called John in to his arms in a friendly hug.
"John this is Wildfeather, I met her at Notre Dame, one of my own, she's agreed to help."
John smiled softly at the woman and extended his hand.

*Wild smiled, a little bewildered, and offered her hand in a greeting.*
"Mae govannen."
*She was wondering what kind of help Amras wanted her to give to these strangers.*

"Mylady" John leaned forward and kissed Wilds hand and turned to Amras "you know it's been four years since you were last in Paris, and although much has changed, our cause has not, come."
He waved them along toward them in to a large sitting room where a few men and women along with many children sat reading and playing games. "The homeless have no place to go, and with disease and hunger running rampant among our streets, places like this are considered a sanctuary."
He turned his head toward Wild "It will only take a few hours of your time, although I imagine my friend here duped you in to helping, I would appreciate your help none the less."

*Wild looked at Amras first, then at John. Her face was serious. Bad experience had learned her to be careful, and she was not waving around with her powers without knowing what she was up to. The hardest lesson of them all, had been Father Joseph's departure. She looked at these people. They looked friendly, but she didn't know them. And as Amras himself had told her: She should never trust a first impression.*
"Monsieur. I am afraid I do not understand. What kind of help are you expecting me to give you?"

John sighed with touched Wild's shoulder in the friendliest of fashions, even the saddest person would have smiled.
"My dear there is a lot to do, we need clothes washed and mended, food prepared, I'll explain more in bit."
He ran over to where Marie was and picked her up with a smile.

*Wild gritted her teeth and her beautiful, dark eyes became even darker. She had always hated domestic work. She had more than enough of that in the orphanage. She could feel dark thunderclouds gather over her head, and she felt a sudden urge to strangle Amras.*
The slave market is just around the corner.
*She turned to John again, managing to smile.*
"But there are so many of you. Surely your work will be done faster if you share the things that needs to be done among you."

Amras laughed and turned to Wild and with a whisper "These people need your help, if you feel no compassion in your heart you may leave now."
John frowned at Amras "Good friend, do not say such things. Young elf there is only me and Marie, these people do their work, but they tire quickly, my wife was killed when the fighting started, we can only do so much."

*Wild felt like she was pressed into a corner. On one hand, she indeed felt compassion with the poor and downtrod. On the other side she still remembered the long captivity she had endured with Black and The Enforcer.
And now she was afraid to be forced into another form of captivity - slavery. Sure this John had said it would only take a few hours of her time, but he had said nothing about if she could leave when she was done.
Wild looked over at the other people in the room. They really looked miserable. She hadn't seen any of them before, and wondered who they were and what they were doing here. Were they here as slaves, or by their own free will?
She turned to John again.*
"I'm sorry for the loss of your wife, even if I have not heard of the fighting you are talking about. Why do they tire quickly?"

John stared at Wild for a moment and set Marie down "Ms. Wild, would you come with me?"
Amras looked down at Marie and smiled suddenly feeling terrible for what he had said "I'm sorry for what I said before Wild, it's just- these people have no where to go and I thought-"
John touched Amras shoulder with a sad smile "-he only thought that a young woman who works in a church would not mind helping those less fortunate, now if you'd please come with me."
He started walking toward a large room with an open door, inside there was a table and a set of cards.

*Wild looked over at Amras with a smirk and a glimpse of humor in her eyes.*
"As I told you in the church, Amras, you think too much."
*She didn't sound angry though, and she followed John into the next room.*

John awaited her and closed the door behind her and closed his eyes, reaching out and touching her forehead.
"Wildfeather of the land of shadows, orphaned at the age of 11, princess, proud of her virginity..." he sat there for a moment before pulling his hand away. "Please come sit down at the table..." he walked toward the table.

*Wild looked up at him in surprise when he touched her, but her own supernatural powers told her she had nothing to fear from him. She smiled.*
"You are psychic! And get your information by touching people! Do you get visions as well?"
*She came over to the table and sat down.*

"Visions come and go as they please" he smiled and shuffled the cards "they never say anything important, little things like dishes being broken, Marie getting a cold... meeting Amras."
He set out the cards on the table and touched them softly "You prefer to be called Wild yes?"
