Lucy paused in the main hall of the house. The journey over from London was an arduous one, and it had eaten up what little funds she'd had. Being broke and having nothing more than what you were wearing and a few things packed in a back did not a good time make. Maybe, just maybe, the folks in this place would be charitable.
One could only hope.
Clearing her throat, Lucy called out into the house: "'ey, is anyone 'ere?"

*Brandi walked in from the hall, tying on her apron as she was about to get some cleaning started. She smiled at the young woman.*
"Good day. What can I do for you, Miss? Do you need a room?"

"Aye, I do. Trouble is, I ran outta money thanks to th' trip 'ere. I'm hopin' I can, dunno, work off my debt?"
*She tried not to let any desperation creep into her voice, but really, it was hard not to let it these days*

*Brandi just smiled and moved behind the counter to produce a key for her.*
"No worries. We get a lot of folks in a similar situation around here. We all chip in and everything works out. Here you go."
*She offered the key.*
"It's upstairs, on the right. Bathrooms at the end of the hall. The kitchen is downstairs. I serve three meals a day, but if you cfan't make one for some reason, there's normally something to snack on if need be. Just let me know if you have any peculiar needs, all right? Will there be anything else?"
Man, I am so glad I don't need money or I'd be starving.

*Lucy gave Brandi a big grin as she accepted the key*
"Nothin' special, for me. Just th' normal stuff. An' thanks--best treatment so far, an' I promise I'll keep up with th' rent.
I'm Lucy, by th' way. Who've I th' pleasure of meetin'?"

*She shook her head, forgetting herself. She offered her hand.*
"Brandi. Nice to meet you. We get some people around here that are just passing through, but a lot of them are long term. There's a sweet girl named Beatrice and of course Cry-Baby."
*She leaned in with a grin.*
"Trust me, you can't miss him. But if you need anything, just let one of us know, all right?"

"Aye, sure...and, Crybaby?"
*It had to be one of the oddest names for a man Lucy had ever heard. Even odder than Lord Savage*

*Brandi nodded knowingly.*
"Cry-Baby Walker. It's a nickname, but he prefers it. He's a musician."
*She said it as though that explained everything.*
"He has a tattoo under his eye, it should be pretty easy to remember."
*She smiled gently.*
And hands off.

"Musician, eh? Had plenty of those in good ol' Dregs. Most of them were disappointin', you know--all lovin' th' lads instead of th' ladies.
Well, I'm hopin' I can find some men what likes their girls, eh? Give me a ring if you find 'em! It's th' business, y'know?"
*Completely oblivious to the truth of the situation, Lucy happily gave Brandi a nod goodbye and traipsed upstairs*

*Brandi's brow furrowed slightly as she watched the woman ascend the stairs.*
The business? I hope it's not that kind of business. Not sure I should be running such things out of the inn. Faye would die if she found out. Again.
*She turned to collect her pail of cleaning supplies.*

*Having spent little to no time in settling in, Lucy comes back downstairs clad in a longcoat and looking a bit sneaky.*
"What's a good place to pick boys, mum?"

*Cry-baby lounged against a doorframe, watching Brandi's ass appreciatively as she mopped. He'd help. Eventually.
He raised an eyebrow at Lucy's entrance.*
"Now ain't that a loaded question," *he murmured.*

*Lucy chuckled at his statement*
"A workin' girl needs work, sweet'eart. Can't make th' money if there's nothin' to bring th' money in."
*She noted his tattoo, and decided that this was the Crybaby that Brandi had mentioned to her*

*Brandi stood more properly and brushed the hair back from her face.*
"Oh! Umm...Miss Lucy. Sorry...Cry-Baby, this is Lucy. Lucy, this is Cry-Baby."
*She gestured between them that they might shake hands or something.*

"Miss," *Cry-baby said, inclining his head politely. For him, anyway.* "Know the feelin'."
