*Clarisse smiled.*
"How pleasant for you, now if you will excuse me, the Duke of Normandy appears to have arrived."
*She smiled once more at him before moving easily back into the throng of people.*

*He nodded back, smiling. Inwardly, he was grinning...and not pleasantly*
Perfect. Now perhaps the society snobs will have more respect for the name Moreau when it is coupled with De Chagny.
((Oh, you wish, Alphonse...))

((Awesome, so now they meet. Perhaps, at the funeral?))

((Sounds good! Moreau would definitely go, now that he's engaged))

*Tybalt entered the room, scanning the floor for that familiar red hair and lanky build, but the party seemed to be thankfully Mercutio-free. He was relieved, of course. He didn't want anything else to do with the man. He was infuriating and obnoxious and- he wouldn't waste his thoughts on him any more.*

Meg was standing with a cluster of other girls from the ballet chorus, chatting happily about nothing in particular and wearing a lovely new dress she'd purchased just for the occasion. Her hair was gathered into an elegant kind of updo, with a few thick ringlets still allowed to fall over her bare shoulder on one side, and she had a glass of champagne in one hand.

*As he surveyed the crowd, an almost angelic face caught his eye. She was in conversation with a few other girls, her bright laughter carrying over to his ears. He didn't go to her (what would she think of him?) But he watched, and gravitated toward her.*

"I'm going to get some more champagne," Meg said to the other girls, and she turned to go to the table where the bartenders waited with a few more bottles.
"Don't you think you've had enough?" one of the girls she'd been talking to shouted, in a clear case of the pot calling the kettle black. "I'm going to have one more-" Meg began, turning back to look at them but still walking.
As a result, she collided right into Tybalt.

*His first, reaction was to bristle and look furious, mostly out of self defense and instinct.*

The man was actually baring his teeth at her. Meg backed away, eyes wide and frightened.
"Oh- oh, I'm sorry- I supp- suppose I'll just be, um, going now..."

*He shook his head, replacing the expression quickly with a more neutral one.*
"No, my apologies," *he muttered.*

Meg, still not entirely comfortable, made an "eep" kind of face and walked away as quickly as she could to get her champagne glass refilled.

*Tybalt cursed inwardly and moved away, through he kept his eye on her- he couldn't look away, she moved with such an ethereal grace.*

Meg rejoined her friends a short moment later. As soon as she arrived, though, they burst into giggles, much to Meg's confusion.
"Oh, what is it?" she snapped, still lightly teasing. "I think you've got a boyfriend," one of them replied, gesturing at the man who stood only a few yards away, watching Meg.
Meg glanced over her shoulder and saw who they were referring to. She cringed.
"Oh God, I said I'm sorry," she whispered as she turned back. "What more does he want from me?" "I think I could name a few things," a redheaded girl chortled.
Meg gave her a disapproving look, then glanced back at him again. Yes, he was still staring at her. Lovely.

*He looked away when he caught her glancing over at him, ashamed. He approached her, his air of cool dignity disguising his nervousness.*
"May I have a word?"
