***NEW NIGHT? I HOPE SO SPIKE WON'T ASH INSTANTLY***
*Spike jogged to catch up with Buffy, falling into step just behind her.*
"Hey...you alright?"
*Seeing her fight with Giles had been, well...weird.*

*Buffy was still bristling.*
"How dare he?" *she exclaimed, waving her hands dangerously.* "What right does he have to take me off the job? It's like... my cosmic duty, or whatever. You can't just give Slayerness to someone else!"

*Spike dodged her hands with a well-practiced grace.*
" 'course he can't. Destiny makes you all chosen-y. Some twit librarian can't take that from you."
*He hoped this was helping. Girls were complicated. The Slayer...doubly so.*

"Damn right!" *she said emphatically. It was just so... un-Gilesy.*
"Well. I guess I didn't need him before," *she said.* "I guess now I'm just a... a Rogue Slayer. Only not all slutty and evil like Faith."

Unfortunately.
*Spike followed dutifully.*
"Yeah, and bet you'll be even more productive without him and the council and their bloody rules."

"We had rules?" *Buffy said vaguely.* "Oh, right."
*She blew some hair out of her face.*
"So... what do I do now?"
*Buffy turned to face Spike.*
"And hey--are you still all Sybil, or what?"

"Huh?"
*Spike's brow contorted but he finally caught up. He glanced about him, as if looking for something or waiting.*
"Seem fine enough at the moment. And well, sometimes that's the best we get."
*He hoped it was over, but this sorts of things seemed to have lasting effects. But he did his best not to think about it.*
"So...what would you be wanting to do? Seems like that'd be the question."

"I'd be wanting to be home with a tub of ice cream and Cary Grant on the tv," *she said.* "Barring that, though... I kinda want to kick something's ass."
*She peered at him. He was making sense, in a non-crazy sort of way. Which was... Wait. She'd sort of lost track of where they were now.
Not that there was, or ever would be, a "they."*

((Aww...poor Spike.))
*Hmm...chick comforting was hard. Ass kicking, that Spike knew a bit better. He swelled slightly in anticipation, as if the target were just around the next corner.*
"What's your fancy then? Vamp, demon...? Sure there's plenty to be had around this place."

*Buffy smiled in anticipatory battle glee.*
"You know I don't care," *she said.* "Let's just find something."
*She strode off down the street with purpose.*

*Spike picked up his pace to follow, a small smile in his lips. This he could do. He hoped it wouldn't take too long to find a baddie. But hopefully not one that's too bad.*
((So what's the plan? PC? NPC?))

((The problem with PCs is you can't kill them, and it makes Buffy appear all weak. She never kills anyone anymore!))
*It didn't take long. Paris was crawling with vampires, and most of them (thankfully!) didn't stop to discuss the finer points of vamp metaphysics with Slayers. They just starting kicking. Buffy wasn't exactly sure what "metaphysics" meant, because she'd sort of sucked at the regular, non-meta kind, but Willow had said it once and it sounded cool.
Anyway. Who needed physics when you could leap tall buildings and stuff?*
"Over there," *she nodded at a cluster of vampires even she knew were outmoded, clothes-wise.* "No one's wearing those short little pants anymore, are they?"

"I bloody well hope not."
*Spike hadn't changed his look in several decades, but even if he did, he wouldn't be caught...well dead, in that. He puffed up, readying for the right, but his face was still smooth. He nodded towards the group.*
"Slayers first an' all..."
Don't worry, luv...I've got your back, like always.

*Buffy grinned unreservedly at him, then launched into the fight. The vampires--five of them--were taken by surprise, and she'd done for one before they knew what had hit them. God, this felt good. She pulled out all her tricks, even the foolish ones. Roundhouses, flips, everything. Because she could. She sensed Spike at her back and unbeknownst to her it contributed to the smile on her face, tightened only by concentration.
She plunge her stake into another vamp's heart and to her delight it dissolved into dust like vampires should. She was so tired of all these different rules. It made things easier when she didn't have to discuss evil and stuff with them.*

*Spike lunged in after her, but it didn't take long to realize the point of the exercise. He held back a bit, sparring with a few of them just enough to keep them distracted. The rest of his attention was on Buffy, watching her move, her grace and power. It was truly inspiring. So inspiring that one of the vamps slipped past him. Recovering, he through himself on it, punching him hard in the kidneys.*
"Now where you think you're going?"
*He smiled, glancing up to Buffy.*
You'll wait your turn for my girl.
