"Movie? What are you talking about?"
((Dude, after I saw the movie, I swear, I had three or four dreams set in that cemetery.))

The movie--The Phantom of the--oh. Nevermind.
*walks over to the steps leading up to it and sits down at the base on them like she does in the film*
This is so weird. This is exactly the same.
((Haha, seriously? I never had a dream about the movie, although I did have two dreams with Emmy in them - one of them involved she and I screaming at each other about how talentless the other was, and then I knitted her a sweater for some reason. In the other one she was onstage singing "Think of Me" and she sucked so I threw fruit at her. She screamed at me in that one too, unsurprisingly.))

"Feels like home," Richard said darkly.

*appears* Hey, you! You need a hug! And not from that Rossum thing!
*squeezes*
All better! Byebye! *flees*

Richard suddenly grabbed his head, feeling almost as though something went right through him for a moment, and then the feeling vanished again.

*Buffy swept a hand across the vista of looming, mossy headstones.*
"God, it's cheesy, isn't it? It's like someone said, 'hey, let's make the most cemeteryish cemetery ever!'"
*She turned around.*
"So. Lonely enough for you?"

*Spike nodded and squirmed for a moment before gesturing to a nearby tomb.*
"You may want to sit. This could take a while."
*He took a deep breath.*
"Alright...when you jumped...I don't know how to tell you, but I guess you've already guessed. You didn't make it. Saved the day though, just like always. Things were rough. Really rough. We used the bot to keep demons and social services from catching on though. The scoobies were all worried about you being trapped in Hell though, so Willow got her magic mojo going and brought you back. So hugs and teary eyes and such. You...it took some time for you to readjust. But you did."

*Buffy frowned, thinking of standing in protest, but suddenly sank onto the stone. Emotions crashed in successive waves against her. Disgust over the 'bot, sadness and worry for Dawn, affront as well as pride at Willow's actions. And there was more, she knew. Spike didn't sound like someone who'd gone through a happy reunion with her; though she knew herself well enough to know that she could never make Spike happy. Well, she'd never want to.*
"Was I... was I a zombie?"

*Spike looked up, his train of thought broken.*
"No...just had a hard time of the readjusting. You didn't feel comfortable talking to any of the Scoobies, just..."
Me.
*His lashes fluttered as he caught himself, muttering to himself.*
"Wouldn't believe me anyways."
*He pursed his lips and looked back up to her.*
"Turns out that you were in Heaven. Some kind at least."
*Looking around at the cemetery, he scoffed slightly.*
"This wasn't exactly what I had been expecting."

*Buffy followed his gaze, mentally taking in more than just her present environs.*
"Did I say it was heaven?" *she asked.* "You'd think I'd have better taste, even back from the dead."
*She pulled her knees up to her chest, wrapping her arms around them.*
"So... what happened?" *she asked quietly.* "And why... did you stay? When I was dead?"

*Spike looked hurt for a brief moment. Did she really think so little of him after all he had done for her? He shook it off and smiled sadly.*
"You know why I stayed. Even if you don't want to believe it. I made a promise. And I'll always keep the ones I make...to you."
*He tried to regroup his thoughts.*
"Things were pretty crazy in the sixth season. Anya and Xander tried to get married, but just ended up pissing each other off, Willow and Tara went through some rough times with Willow going all magic addict-y and Dawn...she had to do some adjusting of her own. Went a bit clepto, but everything turned out all right with her in the end. You're a good sis. You made things right with her."

*Buffy looked down.*
"No, I... I believe you. But I was dead. You had nothing waiting for you."
*Her gut clenched at the litany of woe he presented as her future.*
"Maybe I was wrong," *she said.* "Maybe this just seemed like Heaven in comparison." *She looked up.* "Was Willow wrong to bring me back, Spike?"

*Spike looked to her with tenderness in his eyes. He reached out to brush a lock of hair out of her face without thinking.*
"I can't think that."
*Realizing what he had done, he quickly lowered his hand and stepped back nervously.*
"Sorry."
*His lashes trembled and he blushed faintly. Clearing his throat, he tried to answer her more properly.*
"Right and wrong had little to do with it. They were trying to protect you...save you. Can't say I blame them, even if they were a bit incompetent about it. It took some time to find happiness again, but don't worry Buffy, you found it. I promise."
Even if it wasn't with me.
"And you never stopped saving the world and making it better for others."

*Buffy looked at Spike quietly, chin propped on her knees.*
"You're different," *she said at last. He'd taken no ground in this telling, augmented himself not at all. This wasn't the bragging, boastful Spike she knew. He somewhat resembled the Spike who had taken a beating the likes she'd never seen from Glory rather than give her, or rather her sister, away. Only less gross. Sometimes, he even approached cute.*
Eww no! That way lies hurling.

((FTMFW! I adore you. You know that, right?))
*Spike smiled and shifted shyly.*
"Guess I am. Been through a lot since that night. In general."
*His blush deepened and his voice grew quiet.*
"And with you."
