**NEW DAY**
Red sat at a table by herself, quietly sipping tea as she read a recently-purchased copy of The Historian. Her life and Isa's were busy, and oftentimes it meant that they only saw each other while they were both at work.
She hadn't made much progress in regards to amnesia, though she still got occasional flashes of memory about faces and places that she felt sure she know. She'd been going by the surname Holmes, as she couldn't remember her real one.
((Anybody wanna play? Poor girl needs some plot. Oh, and the 'Holmes' thing is not a ref to the Dectective--that's the maiden name of JWB's mom))

((You know it darling. Here comes Auntie Aimee.))
*Aimee swept into the cafe, holding little Johanna's hand in her own. As a treat for finishing her lessons early, Aimee had decided to take her eldest daughter out for an ice cream. She had no idea what had possessed her to pick this particular cafe, but she liked the feel of it as soon as she walked in.*
*They chose a table and were making quiet, affectionate conversation when Aimee spotted the redhead. And then did a double-take. Why, she looked exactly like...*
*Aimee shook her head. Scarlett had been missing for months, and Katie had been beside herself in her letters; could this really be her? It would be so awkward if she wasn't, and anyway Aimee hadn't seen the girl since she was no higher than her waist.*

((Whoop!))
She paused in the middle of munching on a tea biscuit, feeling eyes on her. Casually, she glanced up from the book before her and scanned the cafe. She saw Aimee...and froze.
Her appearnce sent a jolt through her, and though a name didn't surface, she felt certain that she knew this person. More certain than she'd ever felt before. She blinked, realizing that she'd been staring, and glanced down at book in her hand.
What in the world could she say? It wasn't as though she could just march up and start with "Hello, I don't know you but I think you do, so can you tell me who I am?"
Yeah. Not quite a good idea. But how could she figure it out?

*They locked eyes for a very strange instant before Aimee again became aware of the chatter and noise around her--clinking of silverware, bubble of laughter, the 'pop' of a newly-opened champagne bottle. She turned back to Johanna, smiling at something Aimee had heard but not quite paid attention to.*
*She snuck glances at the young woman every few minutes, as the waiter came and went and brought back ices: strawberry for Johanna, pear for herself. By the end of her first scoop, she was entirely convinced. It was Scarlett. Nobody could have looked more like her, had the same mannerisms... when she had paid the bill, she rose and made her way to Scarlett's table.*
"I... I'm very sorry if I'm mistaken, but you look like ... is it.... are... Scarlett?" *She finally finished, her voice soft as always and her face, which had always been rather a baby face, looking largely unchanged from the last time she'd seen Scarlett despite the model change.*

Red had finished the tea and the biscuits and had gotten a good way into the book by the time Aimee had finished up and approached. She glanced up from her reading at the familiar face. She hadn't come to a conclusion earlier and had decided to instead observe. She hadn't expected to be approached first.
"I..."
Scarlett? That was in keeping with the name she currently used...
"They...they call me Red, because I, um, don't know my real name..." She stammered, blushing.
"But you look familiar."

*Aimee smiled a funny, tentative sort of smile.*
"I think I might be your aunt. Your father--or at least the man I think is your father--is my half-brother. Does the name Booth ring a bell?"
*Johanna sort of stood half-hidden behind her mother's skirts--who was this lady? Why was her mother talking to her?*

She felt a welling of excitement, feeling as though she were on the edge of an incredible revelation. If only her mind would unlock and let her discover it...
"I...think. I was saying I was a Holmes, but..."
She paused, thinking.
"Scarlett Booth...I..."
She stared hard at the other woman.
"Aimee?"

*Aimee beamed widely, not bothering to check her delight. She felt as if she might cry.*
"Yes, yes I'm Aimee. Aimee-Cosette Thenardier-Pontmercy; my mother chose not to have us go by Booth. Holmes was your great-grandmother's maiden name; I assume you must have heard it somewhere and it rang a bell... Oh, mon dieu, Scarlett, you've been missing for months! Everyone's been beside themselves, but your mother will be so happy..."

Red felt herself shaking, though not from fear. In point of fact, she couldn't say for sure what it was--but the names that she was given, the information, made even more fall into place.
Her mother.
Her hands flew up to her mouth.
"Oh, god! Everyone must think I'm dead!"

"They haven't stopped looking yet." *Aimee said softly.* "We wouldn't have given up on you. Your family... we love you very much."

She glanced up at Aimee.
"It's been a very long time." She said shakily.
"I became a nurse and I was part of the triage during the revolution..." She was babbling, she realized, but these were things that her family would not have known.

*Aimee broke into a disbelieving grin.*
"The revolution? I was there." *She said, laughing at the irony, but not bitterly. Aimee didn't have it in her to be bitter when things turned out well.* "Well, my husband was there and I vaulted myself over the barricades to find him."
*As always, she got a funny sort of glow when she talked about her husband. Also she suspected she was probably pregnant again.*

"Oh my goodness! Do you mean I missed talking to you by a hair...or something..."
She shook her head.
"Your husband...ummm..." She chewed her lip thoughtfully.
"Marius?"

*Aimee broke into a huge, sunny smile and nodded.*
"Yes! Marius! And this is our daughter, Johanna..."
*Aimee ushered the four-year-old out from behind her skirts.*
"Jo, this is you cousin Scarlett." *Jo eyed Scarlett warily before curtseying.*

The amount of happiness she felt at finally discovering who she was and who her family were was almost overwhelming. She could feel tears of joy building in her eyes as she smiled at Johanna.
"Hello, Jo. It's good to see you."
