Adrien really wanted to slink into the seats with his arms wrapped around Adrian's waist, but he felt fairly certain that this was not allowed. (He wished - proving how little he'd understood Adrian's reactions this evening - he had thought about this, and changed into that dress of earlier before they'd gone out. Then, of course, Adrian wouldn't mind, because they'd look like any straight couple.)
Adrian had, sort of shortly, let Adrien choose the film, and so they were buying tickets at Ninotchka and Adrien was trying not to smile directly at him.
Of course, this place, they knew damn well what was going on between the pair of them, but the service was such that they barely looked Adrian in the face, much less recognized him.

"I assume you'll want something to eat..."

"It's okay. You don't have to."
Mentally reminding himself in a loop: don't grab him, don't grab him, don't grab him...
It was hard. He was so happy. It was their first date, after all.

"If you'd prefer it-"
He realized he'd raised his voice, and corrected himself almost immediately.
"I apologize."
He extended an arm around Adrien's narrow shoulders and pulled him a little closer.

Oh, good, they could be affectionate. Like Adrian was... was his uncle or something. Or his father. He bit his tongue on the impulse to call him 'Papa,' which, once it had occurred to him, was dying to be voiced for some reason or other. He tilted his head slightly against him, trying to remain casual but to keep up the sense of there being a relation between them.
"I bet you don't even eat popcorn, do you? Have you ever had it?"

He smiled wryly down at him.
"I'm not completely ignorant to the ways of the average person."

"The ways. Are you familiar with the practice?"
Adrien suddenly really, really badly wanted to pick up a piece of popcorn and put it to Adrian's mouth. He wanted Adrian to smile as he accepted it. And maybe ruffle his hair idly with one hand as he did so. He could feel the ache for it in his chest.
He blushed slightly, smiling still, and glanced away, although he seemed completely contented despite this.

"You would be surprised, I think, to find what I was doing at your age."

"Ohhh, you were ever my age? Bet it was different from what I do," said Adrien, unwittingly playing up the possible father-son impression.
At the same time, he was dying of curiosity. He'd never asked Adrian about his youth, nor had he ever asked him about his previous sex life, and both were greatly interesting.

"Well, yes-" Adrian began, perhaps too quickly.

"Well, obviously."
He nudged him. "Do you want to get popcorn? We could share - "

"I don't really care for popcorn," he said gently.

"I really couldn't picture you eating it," he said, also a bit too quickly.

And so, they sat popcornless in the back of the slightly seedy screening room.

Adrien leaned against him slightly, though it didn't seem strange, as the lights flickered and dimmed, making some small talk before then but not really minding Adrian's curt responses.
Only a couple of minutes in, a hand dropped onto Adrian's thigh and trailed up, almost thoughtlessly, gently stroking.
