"This'll do," Sylar decided, referring to a small, out-of-the-way park he'd spotted. I had a rickety picnic table, and despite being surrounded on all sides by buildings there was plenty of light; the sun was almost directly overhead. He'd have to hurry, though.

Tsuzuki had seen, while wandering around Paris aimlessly, another, bigger park, probably famous or something, only he still couldn't read the signs in French. That was what he'd had in mind, but this little park was much closer, and Tsuzuki hadn't known about it and, most importantly, it was surprisingly quiet and empty. Perfect for Noah to concentrate, if that's what he wanted. Tsuzuki leaned his hip against the picnic table, looking around thoughtfully.

"You're in my light," he snapped, without looking up.

"Sorry!" Tsuzuki straightened hurridly, stuffing his hands in his pockets and backing up. He watched Sylar with great interest, occasionally looking guiltily away as if afraid his attention would bother the other man at his work.
It was boring playing guard, though, when there wasn't anyone around. And with the way Sylar was bent over the timepiece, gazing at it so intensely, Tsuzuki was surprised the little wheels and screws and other watch-y things hadn't melted under it yet. It was admiresome, though. Tsuzuki wondered how long Noah'd been fixing clocks.

It took about half an hour, all told; longer than it would have taken with proper equipment, but quicker than expected.
Sylar handed the finished product to its owner with a satisfied smile.

"Thank you, Noah!" It sounded more like 'sankyuu,' the one thing Tsuzuki had been saying to his colleagues and coworkers for years in English and so never corrected, even when he began to learn English in earnest. Tsuzuki examined his watch, beaming, before slipping it into his pocket. "Do I owe you anything...?"

"Oh, no, don't worry about it. It's my fault you didn't get it done at Herr Drosselmeyer's, so..."

Tsuzuki beamed at him some more. "How long have you known how to do that, Noah?" Now that Sylar wasn't fixing his watch any more, Tsuzuki didn't hve to worry about interrupting his concentration.

"I grew up with it. The shop back home belonged to my father, and I always wanted to follow in his footsteps. Well, not all of them, but I loved restoring timepieces."

"You seem like you're very good at it, if you could fix my old watch. I thought I might have to replace it." Tsuzuki smiled, a little wistfully. "It sounds like a soothing job."

"It can be," Sylar agrees, a little wistfully.

Hands in his pockets again, one of them idly toying with his watchband, Tsuzuki turned his head to regard the park again. It was sort of amazing, this tiny little green place only yards from the carriages rumbling over the streets. "I'm sure you'll find a shop to hire you. I'll help you look!"

He smiled and ducked his head. "Thanks, that means a lot. That can't possibly be the only place in Paris."

"Of course not," Tsuzuki said, turning his head back to Sylar. He was smiling, crinkle-eyed. "Everyone's got to go someplace to get their clocks fixed, after all."

"Oh yes. We're vital cogs." He winced. "Oh god, I can't believe I just said that. I'm so sorry."
