"Now, whatever you do, don't mention his right hand," Megan said quietly to her burly companion as they crossed the plaza to Veidt's building. "It's made of metal, and I don't know if they have that where you're from, but it's kind of a touchy subject. And Loki already kind of hinted at it at lunch, so..."

Thor nodded, listening carefully as Megan spoke. He still felt so out of place in these types of places and he felt awkward enough already. Not for being as huge as he was (that was a point of pride thank you very much) but simply because he knew he was nothing like these people.
But instead of feeling embarrassed he just decided to ignore everything and act like he belonged there. It was working so far.
"No metal hands, but it certainly isn't the strangest thing I've heard. Loki was probably just trying to make him uncomfortable. When he gets irritated he has a tendency to insult people. He was rather good at picking out just what will bother a person most."

"So that makes you like his stepnephew thing, right?" Megan asked. She still hadn't been able to bring herself to address the man by name.

"Step-what?" Thor asked incredulously. He shook his head with a laugh, "No, No he and I are of similar enough age, with me being only a few years older." He couldn't quite think of how to tell Megan that Loki was actually his brother. It seemed for some reason to come as quite a shock to the last person who found out, so he figured that Midgard forgot about that bit.

"But he and... your dad... took some kind of blood oath, I mean."

"Blood oath?" Thor looked down right confused now, "I'm not sure how to word this, but I believe your people made quite a few mistakes in what you believe about us. He is..." Thor ran a hand through his hair awkwardly, searching for something to say.

"Yeah, like they swore to be bros."

At that he out right laughed, "That would be a strange oath to swear seeing as how they are father and son!"
Oh hello foot, meet mouth.

"...oh."
Unlike Teja, Megan hadn't been raised on or grown up loving the Norse myth cycles- most of what she knew came from various adaptations, features in magazines she'd subscribed to as a child, and a whole lot of Sandman comics. The last of these had given her a very distinct image of Loki- hawk-faced, flame-haired, infinitely cruel-looking- that didn't match Ashton's eager schoolboy face at all.
She shivered.

Thor paused next to her and sighed, "All right, full disclosure time."
He made sure that no one was paying attention before summarizing rather quickly, "Yes, Odin is both I and Loki's father, and he my brother," he smiled loftily, "And I know not if he looks now how he usually does, but he really is rather skinny. No family resemblance at all."

"Skinny, dark hair, green eyes," she said dully. "It wasn't all stuck to his head, though."

"Huh, that's a change," Thor commented, a little surprised. This Teja must be really something. 'Go Loki.' he repeated in his head with a grin.
Looking at her Thor sighed and shook his head with sympathy, "Come now, you look so tragic. I was just informed that the majority of people here think my brother is my honorary step-uncle," he bumped her shoulder lightly (REALLY lightly) with his, "He'd probably be a horrible uncle anyway."

"It was sort of all over the place-"
She gestured around her own hair, then sighed.
"You'll have to forgive me, it's been a long couple of months. For everybody, I think."

Thor couldn't deny that. With the way the timelines seemed to have messed up it's been a long couple of years for him.
His grin only grew though, despite the topic, "Even so, if you wallow in what depresses you then you will only feel worse. Instead," He hooked arms with her (kind of awkwardly, because of the big gap in height) and started walking forward again, "try thinking of me in a dress. Always seemed to make my friends laugh."

Megan startled at the arm-linking.
"I'm not about to collapse-"
