Isa pushed Rubbles her Yorkie out of way as she put out the potato salad on the table. She was humming and bouncing along to her record player, some big band was playing.
She light the grill and started cutting the steaks.

It wasn't until they'd actually reached Isa's house that he realized he'd never been here before or had even known where Isa lived. Still, it was nice to see that, even though she was being run ragged by her work (really, she should've been promoted ages ago), that she was getting something good out of it.
He waved at her cheerfully when she came in sight.
"Hello!"

John followed with Marie and Hazel at his side and Amras behind him.
"Hey there lady."

"Hey! I just got the grill started" she walked over and gave each person a hug "so who wants to help make hamburgers?!"

"Oh I just need someone to make the patties, I'll cook no problem" she laughed "girls why don't you two help? You're both great cooks" Hazel and Marie grinned and ran over to where the meat was sitting.
"Thanks loves" she handed them some bread crumbs and they got to work.

"You just can't take me anywhere."
Realizing he'd used that line once before, and wincing at that, he wandered over to one of the chairs that were set out.
"Aren't I useful?" He said, winking.

Amras smiled and sat down across from everyone, the smell of meat cooking always turned his stomach.

"You're quite useful, just not in the ways of cooking I think" John smiled and asked Isa if there was something else that needed to be done. She told him to go inside and grab the drinks.

"Oh, you got that right," he called after.
"I can be useful in other ways."
Well, of course that was a double-entendre. He rarely let such an opportunity for one pass him by, especially if it was to tease John.

Not noticing--as always--he sat back, watching Isa at the grill.
"So, I never asked, but when did you start singing?"

"Wow. You definitely have a lot of practice."
László hadn't really started singing until he was a rentboy--it was a good time-waster for those intervals in-between customers, but soon had evolved into something that he indulged in whenever he had the chance.

"It was something my mom did so I did it to" she smiled "I did a lot of opera, but I always preferred jazz" she smiled "mom didn't much care for that I'll tell you what."
