Full Name: Maya Amel
Fandom: POTO, original, other (specify)? Dragon Age OC
Age: 21
Height: 5'4"
Weight: None of your business
Build: Slim: mages as a rule aren't really the heavy lifters, and tend to be slight and frail of constitution.
Hair: Long and black
Eyes: Blue
Nationality: Ferelden
Job: Elemental Mage
Personality: Maya can be quite studious and serious when it comes to magic, yet at the same time has a decent sense of humor and will join in some wisecracking with her companions. While she tries to resolve situations with diplomacy, if it seems as though there is no other way, then she isn't hesitant to use magic to solve a problem. Not frivolou with her power, but not stingy with it, either. Generally, Maya is a fairly easygoing woman and not hard to get along with.
Life Story (as much as you want us to know): As it happens with most mages, as a child Maya was discovered to have power over magic, and was quickly tracked down by the Templars and brought to the Circle Tower near Lake Calenhad. There she spent her formative years learning the ways of her new ability, and although she was at first frightened by the Templars and intimidated by the Tower's grandeur, Maya happily settled in and took to her studies like a duck to water. She past the Fade test with flying colors, and given full-fledged mage status.
During her studies, Maya's attitudes toward the Templars and the Chantry in general shifted, and she slowly started to resent what she considered "big brother" constantly poking into her live and the lives of her peers and butting into their business--business that, Maya felt, was none of theirs and one that the Priests knew nothing of. She kept these thoughts to herself, however, knowing just how dangerous they could be.
She survived the disaster with the Blood Mages and the carnage they wreaked, rescued from the wreckage by the Gray Warden Ailwen and her party of adventurers. Impressed by the travelers--and envious of their freedom--Maya began wishing that she could go out on adventures of her own, away from the ever-watchful eye of the Templars.
She got her wish to leave the Tower one day, sent on a small errand to Denerim to inquire with Templars there about any new mages that might have cropped up. On the way, however, Maya found herself accosted by Darkspawn stragglers--and wound up in a fight she never thought she'd see. Unbeknownst to her, it would lead to far more than a fight with monsters in a grassy field...
